Katharina Hohmann and Katharina Tietze are based in Berlin
The K&K Centre for Art and Fashion was founded in 2002 by artist Katharina Hohmann and designer Katharina Tietze in Weimar. Based in a former East-German newspaper kiosk they have since then staged over fifty exhibitions. The Kiosk, functions as a showcase for artistic installations focussing on the theme of fashion in relation to every-day life. The curators work on some of the installations themselves but also regularly invite guests to work site-specifically. The discussion has come to rest on five key themes: newspapers, collections, glamour, coverings and phenomena. 2005 saw a retrospective of the first 40 exhibitions take place at the Guestroom of the Galerie Loop/heeresbaeckerei in Berlin. Since May 2005 K&K have been concentrating on the series ‘Kleiderportraits’ (clothing portraits) in which people from different professions select a piece of clothing, mostly of their own, and portray it in a text, creating a dialogue between object and description. In winter 2005 they produced their first K&K Magazine.
